Doug Carlson

Business Representative

Overview

Doug Carlson became a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 688 in May of 1994. Carlson started as a part-time employee working for UPS as a loader. In January of 1995 he took on the role of Shop Steward, with the intent to educate newly hired employees that have never been exposed to the brotherhood of being Union, as well as to help members understand the importance of a bargaining agreement. Over the years, he hopes he has helped others understand that importance as well. In October of 2001, he became a Package Car Driver after deciding to make a career working for UPS.

In January 2012, with almost twenty years of experience as a shop steward, he entered a new level as a Business Representative representing UPS and 7 other small shops in the St. Louis area.

He has been married to his wife, Julie, for 30 years, and have three daughters all whom have benefited from the collective bargaining process that represents a Teamster and makes Teamsters who they are today.
