Duckworth is a 30-year UPS Teamster and her service includes 23 years as a part-timer and steward. She sat on the local UPS negotiating committee four times and was a member of the 2002 Teamster-UPS National Negotiating Committee. Duckworth has co-chaired the Joint Safety Committee for five years and the Union Retention Committee for four years. She was a delegate to the 2001 IBT Convention.
“As a rank-and-file trustee, I have a direct hand in ensuring we live up to our responsibilities,” Duckworth said. “It is critical we ensure members get value for their dues dollars.”
Duckworth brings a positive, energetic attitude to her work as Shop Steward at United Parcel Services and Trustee for Local 688. "Mike (Goebel, Secretary-Treasurer) says I'm a little idealistic," she says with a laugh. "I enjoy helping people out and making it a fair place to work. I try to make it a win-win situation for all sides." Duckworth, who has participated in contract negotiations with UPS and several union committees, said she enjoys "going over the checks and balances, and making sure things are right."
