Steve Johnson takes a unique approach to organizing: he offers workers the opportunity to organize, rather than "selling" them on the idea. "Every company doesn't need to be unionized. We only go after those that want to be unionized." Through his work on promoting candidate awareness through the Teamster DRIVE program and in his current role as an Organizer, Johnson has seen the power that unions can bring to workers' lives. "It reenergizes the workers," he says. "You see the workers becoming empowered."
